We had discussed over dinner the previous evening the options for marinas for the next few days. An overriding factor was high winds sweeping in on the coming Thursday. We needed to stay put for a few days to shelter, and to attend to necessities such as washing clothes. We had considered putting into Lemmer, but research indicated there was not much there to see, or Urk where we've been a couple of times before. However, the marina in Urk was pretty minimal, and the town more or less a one street town. After much debate we opted for Enkhuizen: it offered a more direct route to the North Sea Canal, it was sizeable and had a collection of museums and historical buildings, and it was also on the rail network offering us the opportunity to check out places via train.
The trip was bouncy, and I got soaked in the cockpit when a large wave swept over us. I later spotted we had lost a fender in the rough water.
There was plenty of traffic out on the Ijsselmeer: many yachts, motorboats, the Enkhuizen-Stavoren ferry, tall ships and barges. But the journey was uneventful, and we pulled into the Campagniesshaven Marina for three nights.

Odd jobs were attended to: replace the missing fender, reseat the autopilot spigot, change the water in the tanks etc.
In the evening, we strolled into town and enjoyed a meal at the Dubbel & Dwars restaurant, a place we had enjoyed with Richard in 2019.
On our amble back to the boat, we walked past St Pancraskerk and stood a while listening to the carillon. The local campanologists were playing Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" and other modern classics. Many local residents had set their chairs up outside and were enjoying the sounds in the evening sunshine. I chatted briefly with a woman and her daughter who were sipping drinks outside their house. "We have a performance here every Tuesday evening, and it's wonderful," the daughter told me. I think she meant the campanology.
