There was nothing left to explore in Roompot. To relieve the ennui, I took a hike around the perimeter of the marina to the end of the sea wall where I was afforded sublime views across to Neeltje Jans and the Oosterscheldedam to the west, and Zierikzee and the Zeelandbrug to the east. There were a few white horses visible on the Oosterschelde and many craft out for a day's sailing. It was an idyllic setting, so I sat lower down the sea wall to avoid the buffeting wind. I had the whole sea wall to myself with a few gulls and oyster catchers for company, and just enjoyed. Below me I watched a seal catch and eat a fish.

At 7pm the Marechaussee appeared as expected, a friendly couple of chaps, who took a photograph of the ships documents and stamped our passports. We were lucky, they explained, since sometimes they have to deal with six to seven requests for their services at the same time, and they covered a vast area, with travel times up to two hours in some cases. They were an example of professionalism and efficiency, and after handshakes, were soon on their way.
We enjoyed our final meal at the Beach Club Bestevaer, which was jampacked on the outside terrace. An early night was called for since we had an early start; we agreed 6am to give the sea a chance to die down somewhat.
