Reflections on the Netherlands Trip 2025:

Like many of our sailing trips, this adventure did not go to plan. Our desire to explore Friesland and Groningen again was thwarted by delays resulting from a back injury incurred by Rex and the vagaries of the weather.
Indeed, after an aborted initial crossing, we clung to the British coastline whilst a never-ending string of lows sweeping in from the Atlantic, bringing much rain and high winds. But we always rise to such challenges, and took advantage of a window of opportunity and made our way across to Nieuwpoort.
Prevailing weather conditions then dictated our whereabouts for the remainder of the trip, and we accepted that we would have to confine ourselves to Zeeland. We were naturally disappointed, but there is always a silver lining, and we took advantage and visited in total five ports I had never visited before as well as a few old favourites. Our knowledge of Holland had been enhanced.
One further surprise was in store for us, the chance to travel through the middle of a windfarm; a rare and interesting experience.

We look forward to more such memorable adventures.
