Cormorants

    We started the day by heading out into the Markermeer, and eventually through a lock into the Ijsselmeer, passing an enormous flock of cormorants on the way.
    Because of its large extent and significant fetch, the seas were rather choppy in the Ijsselmeer, so we took refuge in the sheltered lea of a bay, cooked a tasty supper, and then traveled all the way under sail to Kornwerderzand-Makkum locks, the northern outlet into the sea, and settled down for the night at 3am.
